 WHAT IS REIKI

Reiki is an energy healing system and bioenergy rebalance know throughout the word as hands-on healing technique. Reiki enhances the body’s natural healing and accelerates that recovery process harmonizing all aspects of our being, the physical, mental and spiritual.

Reiki is not a religion or a belief system. Reiki is a method of healing.

HISTORY OF REIKI

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words “rei” that means Universal Energy and “ki” that means Life Energy. So Reiki means Universal Life Energy.

Universal Energy is the energy of the entire universe, the energy that impregnates every being. Life Energy is the force or energy of nature that makes life possible.

Dr Mikao Usui

Reiki was rediscovered in 1870 by a Buddhist Monk named Mikao Usui, but it is known that Asians have been using the techniques we now understand as reiki massage for over 3,000 years. Today, Reiki takes many forms, however, The Usui System of Natural Healing is still the form most widely practiced. Practitioners and Master Teachers are trained through an initiation process where Masters pass on their knowledge and expertise to their students.

Reiki therapy has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an alternative therapy and is practiced in some hospitals and centers.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A REIKI SESSION

chakras

After a consultation, the patient lies down fully clothed on a massage table. The Reiki practitioner places his or her hands over the patient’s body in various positions, starting at the crown of the head.

Traditional Reiki positions broadly correspond to seven major energy centers of the body called chakras, wheels of spinning energy.

Reiki session usually lasts for 60-90 minutes and involves 12-20 different hand placements, depending on what your stated needs are.
